I have so many special childhood memories of Mary. They are and joyous and simply the best, just like Mary herself.
I can smell instant coffee and I am right back in her kitchen in Charleswood making coffee and getting ready to watch the Price is Right with her or learning to makes chocolates eating them as we went along.
Mary had a gentle magic to her and I will miss her very much.
with condolences and love,
Davidene

Mary will always be remembered with a smile. She welcomed me as a new neighbor in Charleswood. Since our kitchen windows faced each other it was easy to wave to signal coffee or happy hour. Mary stayed with me when she volunteered at ex after she moved to Brandon to be closer to family. Many a morning I woke up to mini donuts. Rest In Peace Mary. And yes definitely will be having a Rum with you. Brenda Coutts

I have may- but a couple always spring to my mind.
One summer when we lived in Edmonton , Mary and my Mum -from Ont were visiting at the same time. They hadn't met before. I had to go out for some reason and left them alone to get to know each other. When I got back I found them chatting quite happily- drinking some purple stuff in tiny glasses. They had taken a little walk to a close shopping centre and bought this liguor called ' l'amour something'. They got along fine with each other,
In 2004 I was at a conference in Wpg. staying at the Strathcona. When it ended I stayed a couple extra days and invited Mary to come and stay with me from Brandon- and two of my sisters , Pat and Blanche, flew form Ottawa as well/ It was Hallow e'en. Mary had never met Pat before either. We had dinner in this upscale dining room and was served by a young man , Justin, who was not happy having to work and missing a party.. He was giving us the menu- verbally- and Mary was loo0king up at him. He turned to her and said 'you are staring at me!' Well- yes! He then bought us 4 tiny glasses of some drink- plunked them down in front of Mary and told her to hand them around. the dinner continued like this- and we all dined out it for years, Trudy Thorgeirson-- sister in law
