Obituary of Merle Mylrea

MYLREA: It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Captain Merle Mylrea on Thursday, August 12, 2021.  Merle was born on November 11, 1950 and grew up in Oak River, MB.  Upon graduation from high school, she enlisted in the Air Force.  In addition to her international posts in Egypt and Germany, Merle served across Canada coast to coast.  After 35 years of military service, she retired to Brandon, MB to be close to family.  Having developed an appreciation for wine while in Europe, Merle became a certified sommelier.  She enjoyed walking, her many pets and playing and watching a variety of sports.  As a true animal lover, she also enjoyed living next to a greenspace with all the wildlife.  She is predeceased by her parents Harold and Cora Mylrea.  She is survived by her brother, Ron Bullock (Ethel) and nephew, David (Hua); sister, Norma Golden and niece, Kathy; brother, Morris Mylrea (Debbie) and nephews, Devin and Tristen. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to all the amazing health care professionals who cared for Merle.  After a grueling battle with cancer, she is now at peace. Please join us in celebrating Merle’s life at the Oak River United Church, 27 Limit Street, Oak River, MB on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Oak River Cemetery.
