Obituary of William "Brock" Adair
ADAIR: William "Brock" Adair of Shilo, passed away peacefully at the Assiniboine Centre on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Brock was born in Ontario on April 3, 1940. At age 17, he joined the military. He served his country proudly in postings to Whitehorse, St. Sylvestre, Quebec, Metz, France, Foymount, Ontario, and ended his military career in Shilo. While posted in Shilo, he also served in Cyprus and Alert. Brock retired from the military in 1977 and went to work for Westman Cable in Brandon for a few years, then worked at the water plant in Shilo until he retired in 1996. One of Brock's greatest pleasures was his little business that he ran from home. He could always be seen running around the neighborhood, summer and winter, on his little red tractor. He installed satellite TV, cell phones in your vehicle, did videos for special events, edited pictures, cut grass, landscaping, and cleared driveways in the winter. Needless to say, Brock was not one for sitting still. When he was not working at his business or on the house, he could be found out in the bush with his friend Murray on their quads, mapping out new trails. Brock's other passion was his motorcycles and scooters. If it would fit in or on his bike – that is what he rode. His car usually had the same tank of gas in the fall that it did in the spring. Brock has never been a suit and tie kind of guy. He wore his military uniform proudly, but the tie went on at the last minute and came off before he got to the car. He was most comfortable in his favorite pair of blue jeans. In honor of Brock, the family and pallbearers will be wearing their favorite pair of jeans, and anyone attending the service is invited to do the same. Brock was predeceased by his mom and dad, Joe and Jean Adair, his wife Dawn, his daughter Debi and his very good friend, Beryl McDonald. Left to mourn his passing are his son Dale (Sherry), his grandchildren Jody McConechy (Michelle), Charity and Nick, and one great grandchild, Taryn McConechy. A celebration of Brock's life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brock may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.
