Obituary of Agnes Victor

VICTOR: Agnes (Baydak née Ukrainec). With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Agnes on July 24, 2013 at the Rossburn Personal Care Home. Born March 4, 1926 in the R. M. of Rossburn. A capable young lady, Agnes left home at the age of 12 to be a live in "hired girl" for farm families. Her duties would vary depending on the season and included gardening, cooking for the threshing crews and child care. Agnes and Joseph Baydak married in 1943 and were blessed with seven children. Agnes became a widow at the age of 32 when Joe suddenly passed away in 1958. Agnes remained on the farm until 1963 when she moved into Brandon. Two more children were brought into her life with her marriage to Jack Victor in 1971. Agnes' creative abilities were endless from sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting, just to name a few. Her baking and cooking of traditional meals leaves us with many fond memories of family gatherings. Following Jack's death in 1999, Agnes remained in their home on 10th Street East until 2004 when she moved to Hobbs Manor. Many friendships were developed and Agnes participated in activities when her health allowed. It was a chapter in Agnes' life that she truly enjoyed. Agnes received gentle, loving care during her brief stay at the Rossburn Personal Care Home. She is survived by her children Steven (Gail), Gloria (Bill), Darlene (Nick), Marjorie (Ken), Jim (Dale), Patricia (Rob), Paulette (Leon), Gary (Sharon), Debbie (Ian); 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Brothers Mike, Max, Paul and Ernest Ukrainec. Predeceased by parents Steve and Nettie Ukrainec, husbands Joe Baydak and Jack Victor, granddaughter Monica Steedsman, grandson Keith Schubert, daughter-in-law Lois Baydak, brothers Walter and Peter Ukrainec and sisters Pearl and Eileen. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on July 30, 2013 with Fr. Kevin Smith as Celebrant. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Agnes may be made to Arthritis Society of Manitoba, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6. "Hardworking hands at rest"
