Shirley Ann Whyte

June 18, 1930 - July 16, 2024

Our precious Mom, Grandma, Nana and Great-Nana Shirley Ann Whyte was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. It is with peaceful hearts that we, her family, passed her hand to her loving husband Thomas in Heaven.

Shirley Ann McDonald was born in Portage la Prairie on June 18, 1930. She married her high school sweetheart Thomas Whyte in Winnipeg on April 8, 1950. They made their home in Portage, relocated to Carman and then settled in Dauphin in 1961.

Left to carry on her legacy of love are her daughter Barbara Henderson and her children, Diane Fontaine - Marc (Vanessa) and Christopher - and Robert (Kyla) - Sophie and Sam - as well as Mike Fontaine; son Robert Whyte and his daughter Joana (Miguel); daughter Carolyn Gordon (Robert) and their children Danielle Broome (Derek) - Kailyn, and Makenna - and Nicholas (Bailley); daughter Sandra Goran (Fred) and their children Shannon Stevens (Tyler) - Abby and Thomas - Melissa Gallaway (Max) - Robert and Jesse - and Steven. She also leaves her sisters-in-Law Winnie McDonald, Diane Misselbrook, and Carole Whyte and her much-loved nieces and nephews, daughters by heart, and her many friends.

She is now reunited with the love of her life, her sisters and brothers, her mother and father, her son-in-law Jack and her wee angel, granddaughter Michelle.

We are grateful to all of the wonderful staff on the fifth floor of Fairview Personal Care Home for treating our precious Mom with love, dignity and respect throughout her journey with dementia and especially in her final days.
