On behalf of the Calian Health Team,
I would like to extend our deepest condolences to Ron’s family.
Ron was a pillar of support for the health team at CFB Shilo and always had time for a coffee
and a quick chat whenever I visited the base. Ron helped countless patients throughout his career
at the base and the positive impact that he had on the members of the base, cannot be measured.
Ron was always present at our appreciation events and loved a good night out with the team.
May he rest in peace.

We grew up on the same street, Sydney Ave in Winnipeg and went to the same school, Miles Macdonell Collegiate. Although Ron was a couple of years ahead of me, Dave and I would have been at the same level. Years later when we moved to Brandon Ron had his office in the Brandon Clinic, where my wife, Marilyn worked for Dr. Runcie. Marilyn and Gail started a friendship through their shared interest in sewing and needlepoint. We made many trips to Winnipeg in 1994 when Gail and Marilyn were shopping or taking classes at Mrs. Twitchett's Eye on Pembina Hwy. Ron and I would alternate driving week after week but sometimes would end up together. I specifically remember one Friday evening at a restaurant on Corydon and Stafford that unfortunately is no longer there. We were enjoying a few drinks, dinner and a great conversation when a couple of musicians came in and set up right beside us. We were accompanied by some wonderful jazz music with tenor saxophone and guitar. It set the mood for a lasting memory. My wife passed away a few years ago and I ran into Ron a few times since. He was always a kind and reassuring presence. We didn't know them for long but there seemed to be deeper roots because of our common history. My heart goes our to the family - Jon, Jeff and brother, David. Blessings to you all!

Dr. Richert was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He had a steady presence and palpable compassion. He loved to teach people new things. He was always ready to inquire about any relevant topic and never shyed away from bragging about his pride and joy his boys (also his dogs and spouse were commonly inserted with beaming joy). Gail and Ron were the life of the party. They hosted the best get together and their company going out to events (lobsterfest to name one) was second to none. I will never forget the sound of their in sync laughter when something really funny was said or happening. Ron was a hardworking man who never held a grudge and could see optimism in any situation. His steadiness over many years helped our team to overcome challenges, appreciate triumphs, and added personal support to each of us. You could always look to him for wisdom professionally or personally. He was a great mentor and cheerleader to many in his life and I feel lucky to be one of them. He will be missed. I am so grateful to have had the privilege to get to know him. His life was lived fully and completely and he would want that highlighted and remembered. Jeff and Jon I am sorry for your loss in this truly wonderful being. I hope you find comfort in the memories you keep and know that they will not be forgotten.

Ron was a wonderful mentor. I first met him when I was a student at Brandon University. Ron and Gail were so welcoming and encouraging. They were great role models. When I think about Ron, I think of his kindness, great listening skills, his ability to connect with others and how he could help put things into perspective. He helped so many people and had such a positive impact on this world. My condolences to Ron's family and friends.

On behalf of myself and Brandon Friendship Centre Adult Education, I would like to offer sincere condolences to Ron's family and friends. Ron was professional, helpful and kind. When he retired, Westman lost a very important member of the education/psychological community.
An active member of our class is still benefiting from assessments that Ron carried out.

Ron was a committee member for my masters thesis many years ago. He was also the originating coordinator of the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing program at Brandon University. It was my pleasure to work with Ron, though for only a short period, when teaching in the BScPN program. I only knew Ron as a gentle, kind and caring soul, with strength and wisdom that brought comfort and reassurance to those within his arc.

My deepest sympathies to you Jeff and Jon. I developed a very large respect for your father as he provided amazing support and friendship to my mom and Dad, and ultimately the most treasured mental health support to my father when he was sick. He was a kind soul and we will miss him dearly. I hope Dad and him are now sharing their knowledge and laughing together as they always did.
