I was saddened to recently hear of Ben's passing. I can remember so well all the many trips to the Mountainside Store during the school "noon hours", or a quick trip from home to pick up a few groceries that usually turned into a not so quick visit. And I also remember hanging out and relaxing with a Coke after quite a few summer evening ball games.
Ben and Phylis were just all-round great people, friendly and helpful not only to adults but also to those of us who were kids then. Their names automatically come to mind whenever Mountainside is mentioned.
My condolences to Russell and Ruth and their families.
Ben used to take Dad up to check out the water and whatever else. When I moved back I used to go up with him. People would ask if I was nervous and the answer was no. Ben was careful in every aspect and knew his limits. If there was a problem he wouldn’t take anyone with him. Mind it probably wouldn’t have stopped him from going.
I’ve missed him the past while. Always the friendly face at the Rendezvous in Deloraine every meal. I hope everyone goes for a “BenBuger” in his memory.
I’m flying in from Calgary today so am unable to join the celebration of his life. It is definitely a life to celebrate.

To Ben's family: Ben was the best to have as the person in our neighbourhood who we all loved and appreciated. He was a person that would give a helping hand or advice to any of us that needed it. So reliable & intelligent, did ever task to perfection. He has been a blessing to us for many years and is thoroughly missed. R.I.P. Ben
