Obituary of Frederick Ellis
ELLIS: Frederick “Fred” James Ellis passed away peacefully at Fairview Personal Care Home on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the ripe old age of 85 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Faye (his “Faybe Baby”) and their two sons Andrew (Sherri) and Scott (Barbara). Fred was a loving grandfather to their four grandchildren - Jayde, Bradley, Mitchell, and Tyler. As well, he will be missed by several significant people he touched throughout his lifetime.
Fred was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 11, 1937, to Herbert and Gladys Ellis at St. Boniface Hospital. He grew up in Winnipeg and worked at Ashdown’s Hardware as a traveling salesman. He and Faye married on November 25, 1967, then moved to Brandon. Later Fred switched careers and took a job as a Letter Carrier with Canada Post where he delivered mail to hundreds of Brandon residents for 27 years.
Fred was an active member of both the Brandon Gun Club and Manitoba Muzzle Loaders Association for many years. He was an avid trap shooter and spent numerous hours volunteering with the gun club as well as The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair. Fred enjoyed summer camping vacations with his family and long hours walking the family pets – those memories will always be cherished by his boys.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Fairview for the love and support they showed to Fred over the past 3 years.

A viewing and reception will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, between the hours of 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332 – 8th Street, Brandon.
Fred’s family invites you to join them to say farewell; and honor this wonderful man with whose whimsical sense of humor and mischievous smile will give each of us memories to treasure for years to come.
