Josephine (Josie) Buckingham passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on July 5, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 98. Formally of Brandon, Manitoba, Josie was born in Deleau, Manitoba to Julien and Laura Grosjean on December 4, 1923. Following a dedicated career at the Brandon Mental Health Centre, she enjoyed her retirement spent with her family, and in her gardens. Her family has fond memories of Josie’s canned jams and preserved fruit and vegetables. She loved to crochet and knit various items for her family and friends. Josie spent time volunteering for Seniors for Seniors in Brandon. Her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren. Josephine is survived by her daughter, Donna (Greg) Gardner and her granddaughters, Jennifer (Derek), Alana (Ambry), and Kimberly. She was the proud great-grandmother to Devyn and Nicholas. She is reunited with her late husband Alfred “Buck”. Josie will be remembered by her siblings, Jack Grosjean (Eileen) and Anna Enns, sister-in-law, Kay Grosjean, as well has many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th Street, Brandon, Manitoba on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Okosun as celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
