Obituary of Barbara Town
TOWN: In loving memory of Barbara Town née Emery, September 19, 1947 to March 27, 2022.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Barb was many things to many people; a mother, grandma, aunt, sister, daughter, friend. She lived most of her life in Brandon with sojourns out west. Barb enjoyed being involved in her community and volunteered for many positions and organizations throughout her life. In her earlier years she helped look after her numerous nieces and nephews for her three sisters. She loved children and spent many years looking after them, from running a home daycare to being a nanny. She also worked in care homes and schools. For Barb, family came first. She selflessly picked up and moved west to help care for her three grandchildren, later returning to Brandon with her daughter and family. During her life, Barb’s interests were varied and often paralleled what her three children were interested in. They ranged from her love of animals, knitting, reading, gardening, music, dancing, and cooking, to learning to make Ukrainian dancing costumes for her daughter, supporting her sons in cadets, as well as various other endeavors. She enjoyed movie nights in with her family and drinks and appetizer nights out with her friends. Her family will remember her Tinkerbell impersonation during a rousing game of Charades, jiving in the kitchen, singing to the oldies, and cooking air buns and perogies with her babushka on.
Barb will be greatly missed by her daughter, Christina (Garnet) and grandchildren, Cole & Catryn Kinney; son, James and grandson, Jesse Town; son, Scott Town; nieces, nephews, and friends.
The guarding angels of life sometimes fly so high as to be beyond our sight, but they are always looking down upon us. Jean Paul Richter
In staying with Barb’s wishes no memorial service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barb may be made to Funds for Furry Friends, c/o D’Arcy Barker Money Management Counsel, #208-740 Rosser Ave., Brandon, MB, R7A 0K9.
To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance; Ecclesiastes 3:00 and 3:4
