MALAZDREWICZ: Michael Anthony Malazdrewicz. It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Michael passed away peacefully at home in Brandon, with his devoted wife Kathryn Stitt by his side, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the age of 65 years. Michael was born in Brandon, MB, the third of six children and the third generation of Polish Immigrants.  He was proud of his heritage and was instilled with the principle that hard work and dedication lead to success. He was a faithful Roman Catholic, quietly demonstrating his beliefs through his acts of virtue, responsibility, social engagement, solidarity, loyalty, generosity and devotion to family, work and community. The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions at St. Michael’s Academy taught him to play the piano and pipe organ and he felt blessed to contribute his musical talent for over 50 years to the masses at St. Augustine’s Church and to the community. Michael was awarded the distinction of Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada for rendering exceptional service to the profession.  He had high ethical standards, strategic insights and the capacity to identify complex business issues. He was ideally suited for his career as Associate Professor, Endowed Chair - Small Business and Entrepreneurship, at Brandon University, which he began in 2002.  His talent as a public speaker and his previous experiences as a CA in public practice and in small business merged to create the “Professor Mike” that he was born to be. Although Michael is in heaven now, he has left us all enriched by his leader’s legacy. Michael is predeceased by his parents Edward and Muriel, and by his son Matthew. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Stitt, by his children and grandchildren: Rebecca (Norman) and Brooklyn, Joshua (Leah) Mikayla and Emilyn, and Katrina, by his children’s mother Beverley Nackoney, by his siblings and their children and grandchildren Gregory (Roberta Graham), Teresa (Gregory Kindrat), Deborah (Malcolm Doupe), Patricia (Richard Christman) and Edward (Andrea Larson). A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church with Father John Okosun as Celebrant.  The family invites you to gather at the Victoria Inn – Imperial Ballroom, 3550 Victoria Avenue, to watch the livestream of the Mass of Christian Burial for Michael on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.  Following the service, he will be interred at the Brandon Cemetery and the family will then join you at the Victoria Inn for a time of fellowship and refreshments. In compliance with public health orders, proof of vaccination will be required to attend the Victoria Inn.
