Marjory Gardner

Obituary of Marjory Loraine Gardner

GARDNER: Marjory Loraine Gardner (née Neabel) passed away, peacefully with family by her side, on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the age of 89 years.  She was a resident of Fairview Personal Care Home for the past 20 years. Her formative years were spent in the Roseneath district and later Marj settled in Brandon and completed her schooling at St. Michael’s Academy. It was during those young years she met and fell in love with her soul mate, Roy Gardner.  They were married on June 9th 1951 and celebrated 58 years of marriage before Roy’s passing in 2010.  Although Marjory did not have children of her own, she was blessed with many nieces and nephews and a godchild, she loved them all as her own.  She trained as a medical stenographer, beginning her career in the old Assiniboine Hospital and continuing in the medical records department at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Marj was meticulous in her work, respected and admired in her field. Health issues forced her into an early retirement and medical issues continued to plague her for the rest of her life. She was an avid reader in her early years, loved poetry and discussing the latest news. When unable to read anymore, she enjoyed old movies, the classics and her favourite TV channel was CNN. Marj is survived by “her children” Sharon and Randy and their children; goddaughter Debra Tokar and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Roy; brother David Neabel; sisters Shirley Scott and Donna Davies and their spouses. As per Marj’s request, a private graveside service was held on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
Sharon and Randy would like to thank Dr. Davis and all the staff at Fairview Personal Care Home for their dedication and compassion in caring for Aunt Marj.

“Love you to bits Aunt Marj!! “
