Dear Kathie and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Gordon was such a good French horn teacher. I learned so much from him. He was also an extremely kind and thoughtful person. He helped me to navigate moving from Thompson, MB to Brandon to study the French horn and earn a B Mus Ed degree. He was also very unassuming of his accomplishments and in my last year at BU I finally had to ask him,” is it true you played with the Beatles?” He explained that he did not know who he was playing for that day .. that is was a studio session and that he was paid triple the usual union scale. He said,” You get paid damn well when you get paid triple scale!” All you have to do is listen to The Sargent Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band.. to know what a wonderful musician he was.
