Rod, Ila, Dale, Norman and Neil I was so terribly sorry to hear about Karen. Karen was so much a part of our years on the farm. We spent a lot of time at each other's homes through those years. We covered a great amount of ground...everything from taking our "school classes" on field trips to the ravine in your high heels Ila to Rod tolerating our attempt to move cattle from your farm to Calvin's on our spoiled welsh pony, Champ, and our old work horse, Trixie to Neil, Karen and I "getting" Bill Bridgeman (bus driver) on Halloween night and never getting caught to "pioneering" in Grandpa Bridgeman's pasture long past the time of day that we should have been back home. The uncontrollable laughing of rotten egg fights through the barns...(Karen and I against Neil) to the horseback riding trips to go ghost hunting in abandoned farm houses to climbing bailer twine ladders to get up on top of our chicken house. We had far too much fun to ever be scared or worried about possible consequences. We laughed until we cried more than a few times. We sat together every year on the school bus and never quit planning or talking about people, places, cattle, horses, family and hopes and dreams. We joined the Rapid City Beef Club together to make money but quickly found out how difficult it was to part with a calf that we each had raised...that the money wasn't so important after all. We won the best group of 3 twice...the second time with Neil being our 3rd...we both noticed how proud our Dads were and how good that felt...how much fun it was to curl in a 4H bonspiel. There is not one moment that I would ever change. I will always miss Karen and the occasional times we were able to get together to reminisce. Neither of us could have imagined a more wonderful childhood or more wonderful parents than the ones we had. Love you Karen...save me a spot.
The picture I've added is from one of our last 4H Achievement Days in Neepawa...this is how I will always remember you my friend.

My deepest sympathies to the family. Karen was a classmate from grade one to twelve. She was always quiet in school (those are usually the dangerous ones ). I know Karen didn’t really enjoy playing sports but she was always on the cheerleading squad so she was on the team bus. I just remembered her and Lori Rudnizski were BFF’s from Mrs.Jackson’s grade one class.

Our families condolences to the Underhill’s. Many memories of school, socials and dancing, to visits at the Keg in Brandon with school friends. She was part of our “growing up” and always had a sense of calmness about her. Karen had a determined focus in life. Her spirit will be missed. Great person, great friend.

I first met Karen when she came to work at the City of Prince Albert. We worked together twice in Public Works, two Karen’s and people had trouble telling our voices apart non the phone. She was always such a positive person to work with and her love of animals was apparent with Rosie. My husband built a doghouse for Karen’s dear Rosie. She used to dog sit for us and Buddy would have his own couch to sleep bin and many treats when he stayed with her. We sa Karen plant shopping in June and had a brief visit. We were shocked to hear of her illness and sudden passing. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know her.
