William Joseph “EARL” Mitchell

1927 – 2021

Earl was born in Justice, MB on November 21, 1927 and died in Brandon on September 7, 2021 at the age of 93. He spent his childhood in Justice moving from the farm to Brandon, MB with his parents. Earl spent his career working for the CPR retiring as Mechanical Supervisor in 1986, after more than 35 years.

Upon retirement Earl enjoyed volunteering, and was a founding member of Brandon’s Commonwealth Air Plan Training Museum. He enjoyed working on the restoration of WWII airplanes and artifacts.

He will be remembered for his gardening and annual display of flowers and woodworking items that brightened the flower beds at his apartment.

Earl is survived by his loving wife Joyce; his children: Garth (Brenda), Lynn (Dave), Leanna, and Alan (Sharon – deceased); stepdaughters: Heather, Cindy, Penny and Darlene; his sister, Marlene (Ivan – deceased), and brother-in-law, Ken (Jo). He was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren and treasured all his visits with them.
