Obituary of Constance Phillips
PHILLIPS: It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Constance (Connie) Joan Phillips, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at home with family at her side at the age of 79 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Connie was born on December 27, 1941 in Neepawa, MB to Frank and Vicki Pritchard. She moved to Brandon, MB in 1955 and attended Earl Haig Junior High and graduated from Neelin (Composite) High school in 1960. She was employed by CIBC for 8 years, part time with Canada Trust and part time with IHS Energy in Calgary for 25 years.
Connie married her soul mate, Brian Murray Phillips, on August 24, 1963 and welcomed son Christopher Brian in 1968 and daughter Lori Ann in 1971.
Connie’s greatest joy was her family and friends. Her heart was full of cherished memories of family dinners, camping trips, vacations and many celebrations. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Brian Murray Phillips; son, Chris Phillips (Alaina); daughter, Lori Ann Lafreniere (Marcel); grandchildren, Ashley Singh (Akash), Dylan Rose Phillips, Duke Norman Phillips; great-grandson Drake Singh; sister, Kay Blowatt; brother, Leonard Pritchard (Anne); many nieces and nephews; sisters by heart, Shirley Wilson and Joan Coulter and Arundhathi Sasikumar a sponsored child in India.
She was a past member of Wheat City Golf Club, Wheat City Curling Club and a member of Saint Augustine of Canterbury Church. She enjoyed bowling, curling, skiing, golfing, camping, walking and reading. Connie enjoyed her cottage and many great friends at Sandy Lake for many years. She traveled Central Europe, England, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Costa Rica Hawaii, Mexico , Alaskan and Caribbean cruises and throughout the United States and Canada. Connie enjoyed her winter home in Phoenix for 24 years.
Connie was given the gift of an active and wonderful life and she enjoyed it to the fullest, appreciating every blessing. If she were writing this, she would express her gratitude to family and friends for all the love and laughter. “It was a great life”.
A private graveside service was held at the Brandon cemetery. In memory of Connie, donations may be made to Samaritan House, 820 Pacific Ave., Brandon MB R7A 0J1.
