I am so sorry to hear about Rita’s passing... I have sooo many memories of our fun at the bakery. I can’t even call it work because Rita and I used to laugh so much!! The 2 of us “hiding” in the cooler during our hot flashes, George wondering where we were... the hours she spent at the rolling table and still merrily chatting away!! Her contributions to Sweet Temptations were immeasurable and she was sooo missed when she retired!! I used to say to the trainees that came after her, can you be as good and fast as the 60 year old woman that retired from this job......She was the standard I held them up to, and they were culinary graduates And truthfully, none of them rose to her level... Dan, Bob, Roxanne, Michelle and their families .... we were deeply saddened to hear of Rita's passing, especially during this difficult time of Covid. Our association with you and your family through St. Augustines brought back many great memories, but the best would have to be when our children, Carlie and Geoff, were part of Rita's daycare program in your home. Rita was so caring and so patient with the kids and they loved every day they went, there was always a lot of chatter on the way home telling us what Rita had done with them that day. So sorry to hear this. What an extra tough time to have to go through this. I will always remember Rita as the dough expert, rolling many many tart shells and sugar cookies, especially at Christmas time. She was always smiling and positive.
