Obituary of Dorothy Broomhall
BROOMHALL: Dorothy Irene Broomhall passed away peacefully at Fairview Personal Care Home on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the age of 100 years. Left with fond memories of her are her nieces and nephews: Beverley Peterson (Brandon, MB), Brian Broomhall (Black Diamond AB), Barry Broomhall (Winnipeg, MB), Judy Purkis, Bob Broomhall, Dona-Lynn Hawreschuk, and Jan Broomhall (Edmonton, AB) and their families as well as one cousin, Gerald Irving (Summerland, BC). Dorothy was a loving aunt, faithful friend and dedicated her life to the service of others. She was involved with the Girl Guide organization for over 80 years and a 30 plus year volunteer at Fairview PCH. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir and volunteered her time with various church and community groups. She loved her church life and was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and then St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Dorothy worked for the Federal Government for 35 years, mostly with the Veteran’s Land Act (VLA). She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many countries in the world. She was a long-time resident of Hobb’s Manor and enjoyed the company of her many friends and acquaintances. She was an avid knitter and many people were lucky to have received a knitted item from her and the Christmas Cheer board was the recipient of many of her pairs of mitts. She was predeceased by her parents, Sidney and Annie, her brothers Jim and Haydn and their wives. Dorothy’s life will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Cathedral on Friday, November 20, 2020. Interment to follow Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. Matthew’s Cathedral Memorial Fund, 403-13th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4P9.
