Obituary of Evelyn Ruth Turnbull

TURNBULL: Evelyn Ruth Turnbull (née Guthrie) 1918-2013. Ruth was born on May 24, 1918 in Winnipeg, MB to Robert and Julia (Dewar) Guthrie. She passed away peacefully at the Valleyview Care Centre in Brandon, MB on February 15, 2013. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marjorie, brother Robert (Bob), husband Melville Turnbull and nephew David Guthrie. Ruth led an active and busy life in Winnipeg prior to marrying Mel in 1955, and moving to the farm near Hartney. Ruth and Mel travelled extensively throughout the world as well as wintering in Florida. The travelling continued into retirement, when they moved to Brandon and adapted to condominium living. After Mel's death, Ruth moved into Riverheights Terrace and later into Valleyview. Ruth is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, the United States and New Zealand. Many thanks to Dr. Egan, the staff at Valleyview Care Centre and her many friends who have been so good and caring with Ruth, especially over the past months. Her ashes will be interred next to her late husband in a private graveside ceremony at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth may be made to a charity of choice.
