Obituary of Richard Wayne Sherlock

SHERLOCK: Richard Wayne Sherlock was taken unexpectedly from his family on Monday, January 28, 2013. Rick was born on February 13, 1946 in Winnipeg, MB to Kay and Howard Sherlock. Most of Rick's adolescent years were spent in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur), ON. Rick's working career was spent doing various types of mining. His passions included his love of Elvis Presley and he was an avid pool shark. Rick was predeceased by his parents and step father, Steve Tkaczuk. Rick is survived by his partner of 32 years, Valerie Burelle, and children Kim (Jeff) Prochnicki, Richard (Heidi) Sherlock from Thunder Bay, ON and Stepson, Justin Burelle (Jen Eschuk) of Brandon, MB. Special to Rick were his six grandchildren Braedan, Daniele, Abigail, Timothy, Benjamin, and Kenzie. Also surviving are brothers Jim (Bev) Sherlock, Robert (Betty) Sherlock of Thunder Bay, ON, sister Sandra-Gale (Herb) Presley of Sherwood Park, AB and brother, Steve (Wendy) Tkaczuk of Calgary, AB. Rick will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends and by his beloved Samoyed, Asia. A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Grassroots Church, 1250 Balmoral Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Sherwood Park, Alberta in the family plot at a later date.
