Obituary of Hilda Beatrice Hebert

HEBERT: Hilda Beatrice Hebert (Matikka), (nee Teeple), a long-time resident of Brandon, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 29th 2012, at Valleyview Care Centre. Hilda was born on April 8, 1923 in Renfrew, Ontario to the late Irvin and Beatrice Teeple. She moved to the Rainy River District of Ontario with her family in 1931. On July 23, 1943, she married Viljo (Willie) Alec Matikka of Finland, Ontario. Hilda worked at various jobs and lived in a number of places during her life. Two places she held near and dear were Vancouver Island and Atikokan, Ontario. Hilda is survived by her son Garry (Darlene Irving-Matikka) of Nova Scotia, brother Bert Teeple (Sue) (Thunder Bay), sister Nelly McGovern (Thunder Bay), daughter-in-law Jess Matikka. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, all of whom Hilda cherished and loved dearly. She is also survived by six stepchildren of George Hebert's family. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Viljo (Willie) Alec Matikka, son Donald William Matikka, brother Ellard and wife Helen Teeple, second husband George Hebert of Brandon. Hilda will be lovingly missed and happily remembered by her family and all who knew and loved her. May you rest in peace Mom. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. In accordance with her wishes Cremation has taken place and Hilda will be interned at a private service on a later date, beside her loving husband Willie Matikka, at the Brandon Cemetery.
