Obituary of Frank Rubenuik

RUBENUIK: Frank passed away peacefully at his residence, Fairview Home, on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the age of 83 years. Frank was born in Russell, MB on January 1, 1929 to Martha and Mike Rubenuik. He married Helen Kobluk in 1946. Frank and Helen lived in Russell until 1952, at which time they moved to Brandon and raised six children. During 1990, Frank retired from the Brandon Regional Health Centre after 35 years of service. He moved into Fairview Home in November 2002. Here he enjoyed teasing, helping and joking with the staff. Soon Fairview became his home and the staff became his friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 1989. Surviving are his daughters Dianne (Gerald) Third, Patricia (Brent) Roberts, Paulette (Rob) Kollesavich, Connie (Bruce) Bartley, and sons Jerry (Lorie) Rubenuik and Rick (Shelly) Rubenuik. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother Adam (Doreen) and sister-in-law, Doris Klassen. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th Street, on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be made to the Fairview Home Foundation, 1351-13th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4S6 or to a charity of choice.
