Obituary of Margaret (Marg) Seens
It is with sadness the family announces the death of Margaret (Marg) Seens, Sunday August 7, 2011 at Fairview Home, at 88 years of age. Mum was born on the family farm September 4, 1922 to Alexander and Jacque Thomson in the Tarbolton District. She attended Spring Valley School, Sunday School and Church services at Tarbolton Church. In her early years on her Mother and Dad's farm, Marg spent many happy hours with her brother Jim Thomson and cousins Janet Cochrane, Lillian Maskel and Clifford Thomson. Marg married George Seens on October 16, 1943. They farmed NE Sec. 15-11-22 until 1967. From Margaret and George's union there were four children: Lynda, Bud, Ray and Ron. Mum took great pride in the yard at the farm and received several awards for farm beautification from the Province. Margaret also spent many hours leading and teaching the Bradwardine 4-H Sewing Club, she took great pride in seeing all the girls learn to sew. Mum loved to play the piano at home, sing in the Tarbolton Church Choir and work with the UCWA. In 1967, Mum and Dad moved to Moosomin, SK and then to Brandon in 1968 where Margaret worked at the Agricultural Extension Centre. Mum and Dad spent many happy days on Hazelwood Crescent where Mum's garden was the envy of the block. Mum's Boxing Day celebrations hold special memories that her family will always cherish. Mum and Dad enjoyed many hours with family and friends at their Sandy Lake cabin. She was at her best when all the grandchildren were there. They also loved to go dancing at the barn in Clear Lake. Mum was kind and patient and a great teacher of life skills to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The love and wisdom she shared with all of us was a huge inspiration in shaping our lives. Marg was predeceased by her husband George in 1995 and her youngest son Ron in 1996. Mum - Grandma - Great Grandma
You wiped away many tears,
And even calmed many fears.
You have kissed all sorts of parts,
You even somehow healed broken hearts.
You gave your love without a second thought,
You gave lectures when our mistakes you caught.
But you also gave hugs for no reason at all,
You held us tight whenever a tear would fall.
You gave us the courage to walk alone,
You gave us the love of a real home.
You endured many things just for our sake,
Your love was genuine so much love would be hard to fake.
You are truly a gift from God above,
Only He could have made you with that much love.
