Obituary of Ruth Maxine Taylor
TAYLOR: Ruth McKenzie Taylor of Rivers, Manitoba, born May 3, 1919 at Rivers, Manitoba, passed away at the Riverdale Personal Care Home on May 17, 2011. The daughter of the late James A. and Ruby McKenzie, Mrs. Taylor led a life of active and dedicated service to her community, through involvement in the Rivers United Church as a choir and board member and also through leadership roles in the United Church Women and the work of the presbytery. She also served in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, the hospital guild, the home and school association and the Rivers Pipe Band parents group. Upon completing high school in Rivers, Ruth graduated from the Success School of Business in Saskatoon and was involved in various aspects of her families businesses. Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 1973; her parents; brothers Gordon Ross (infant), Dr. Donald McKenzie of Los Angeles, and Robert McKenzie; sister Joyce Kenner of Victoria and son, Norman Taylor. A busy and active woman, in later years Mrs. Taylor lost her eyesight and her unofficial role of driver for her many friends, who surrounded her with love and care and for which her family extends it's heartfelt thanks and praise. Special thanks to CBC radio, for keeping our mother in tune with the world. Special thanks as well to the staff of the Riverdale Personal Care Home, the family will always be grateful for your efforts in caring for Ruth. She leaves to celebrate her life, her sons Don and Ian Taylor; grandchildren Scott, Tara and Tim Taylor; daughters-in-law Pat Taylor and Ellie Taylor, and their families in Brandon, Winnipeg and Halifax, many nieces and nephews and her extended family at Riverdale Personal Care Home. A memorial service will be held at the Rivers United Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating. Interment to follow at Rivers Cemetery. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone,
It's all part of God's great plan – a step on the road to home.
So when you are lonely and sick at heart – go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go.
