Obituary of Grace Ella Collett

COLLETT: Grace Collett of Brandon, beloved mother of Vivian (Lloyd) Grierson of Carberry, passed away peacefully at her residence, Rideau Park Personal Care Home, on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Grace was born on August 15, 1921 in Hungary. She moved with her family to Mankota, Saskatchewan and then to the Justice area where they farmed. She received her education in a small schoolhouse in Mankota, SK. Grace worked as a farmwife for many years. After her husband died, she moved to Brandon and worked at several places including Grand Valley Eggs, Copperhead Restaurant and Stylerite Department Store. She was a member of the Women's Institute in Justice and the Army & Navy in Brandon. Grace loved sewing and knitting. Her afghans were her pride and joy. She loved gardening while on the farm and always had an abundance of veggies. Grace is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Vivian and Lloyd Grierson, granddaughter Pat Grierson (Harold Eide), several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1966, brothers Joe, Frank and Ernie, sisters Rose and Theresa and brother-in-law Larry Knight. In keeping with Grace's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5B7 or to a charity of choice.
