I receive the Brandon Sun handed down to me from my in-laws and just noticed that Bill had passed away. I was just a young green 17 year old kid out of high school when Bill gave me my first job in 1967 as a bookkeeper helper for his business Brandon Welding Supplies on 9th, .
I remember Bill as being a fair person and wonderful with customers. His sense of humor had an edge to it but it was never out of line. He just loved the repartee with customers and the playful jabs back and forth. He was suave and carried himself with professionalism and pride. I still remember how proud he was of the clever play on the red "e" when he changed the company name to Ready Oxygen. Bill never complained and was always there to help when anyone needed it. Now over 40 years later, I have my own accounting practice and notice that I use a lot of the skills that Bill taught me knowingly and unknowingly. I especially notice that in my rapport with clients and have not really given it much thought until I read Bill's obituary.
I am thankful to you Bill for giving a young boy a chance and really enjoyed those formative years working with you, Ken, Ed, Harold, Lloyd, Wayne and others that I forget with my apologies. I know he was a wonderful father and I offer my condolences to his children and their families.
