Thank you for your words. On the day of Dad's happy hour, a friend sent me your article written many years ago. I cited and gave credit to your opening statement when I gave his eulogy. Thank you for writing that article all those years ago.

Very sad hearing that Billie passed on, We met on the diamond the Brandon 7-up's against the Sandy Lake Comets, Bill & his brother showing their skills as ball players prior to the game. Couldn't meet a nicer person. In visiting Sandy Lake would drop off a Winnipeg Sun in his Brandon Sun box & hear about it later. '' Come to me all you who are weary & burdened, and I will give you rest. for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.'' Matthew 11:28,30; Our deepest sympathy Ollie & Ken.

"Dear Jean and family;
Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was always a friend to those who knew him, one of the boys for sure. What a personality! What a sportsman! He would be my nomination for "Sportsman of the Half Century" in BR. Be it fast ball, hockey, broom ball, bowling or golf, Bill was a natural...
My fondest memories of Bill were our days with the Red Caps and cold winter nights at the out door broom ball games in the early sixties.
With many heartfelt thoughts and deepest sympathy."

Sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was a great guy. When I first started playing fastball I joined UCT and Bill was the main guy on the team. He was quite a pitcher and taught me a lot on how to play the game. I always enjoyed being around Bill, some of my best times was having coffee with Bill, Raymie, Danny,and Bill Edwards at Bill's Esso on the hill. I feel really bad that I could not make it to the Sokol hall tonite because I know there would have been a lot of great stories about Bill and his teams.
My sincere condolences to you Jean and family. He will be missed by many, many people who came in contact with.

Dear Jean and Family,
Our condolences to you as we are very saddened to learn of Bill's passing. He was one of those special people who always made you smile. He had a great smile, laugh and the quickest wit and he always found the humor in any situation. He was a great friend to my Uncle Gerry Neff and it was special to spend some time with you both during our last visit to Brandon.
Please know that we are thinking of you at this time.
Most Sincerely, Graham and Anika MacLachlan

Dear Jean & Family, We are so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He was one of the good guys,even though most of the time to him we were "little buggers" (Brenda & Lorrie). Lol, sure will miss being called that. He had such a great sense of humour, and then there's Mom who he called "The Old Goat". Mom is very sorry we could not attend "Happy Hour" in honour of Bill, but please know we are thinking of you all and our deepest sympathy to you at this sad time. RIP Mr. Bill Huston you are going to be greatly missed here on earth. Take Care Jean and Family. Liz, Brenda, Lorrie & Chris

Jean& Family, so very sad to hear of Bill's passing. I spent many years admiring this guy on the ball diamond mound, mowing down batter after batter,and then I finally got to play together with him and found out how great a guy he was, on and off the field. He would give you the shirt off his back(maybe not his last beer} but a true one of a kind man.So many fond memories of him at ball tourneys and the Sandy Lake Hotel. I am saddened to hear that Bill has passed away. Haven't seen him for a while, but my dad and I knew him well. My favourite memories of Bill was when he had the Sandy Lake hotel and my two buddies and I would visit the hotel on Saturday's when we were there for Happy Hour and the meat draw. We had so much fun we would stay until close, and Bill would always buy the 3 of us a drink, and supply us quarters for the pool table! He even took time to play a game and visit with us! He was a great host and my sincere thoughts go to the family.

Many memories of great times had beginnings many years ago when meeting Bill & the Seven UPS playing hockey with Strathclair..... how they got home after doing the post game festivities at the Campbell farm (Mom & Dad totally enjoyed these times)!! Amazing how these guys made work the next day!!
Later spending several years going to San Antonio for our winter golf and socializing. Remember the group of us standing on the tee with everyone showing true golf etiquette & remaining quiet!! The starter shaking his head saying how can you tee off with this commotion! Was not uncommon for Bill to provide you some encouragement before teeing off (saying "quack" "quack" before Glen teed off).
Another memorable time in San Antonio was when Bill, Bill Edwards, Ray Volanski & myself decided to go to that San Antonio Zoo, "the true animals" showed up for this event! I am sure everyone can imagine the how this turned out!!
Just a few of my many memories.
Rest In Peace my friend, until we meet again.
