Hullo Mary Louise
I have only just come across Jack's obituary so my apologies for my late condolences to you and family. You may recall, Jack was my flying Instructor at North Country Flying Club, Plattsburgh NY State. He was a man of excellence and with skill and tact he extracted same from his students. I travelled a long distance from Montreal to Plattsburgh several times a week to attend training/ground school because of his excellent reputation as a Flying Instructor. He gave me encouragement to pursue a career in aviation and made me believe the impossible was possible. At that time women in Commercial Aviation were rare. May he Rest In Peace.

Dr. Jack Perkins and family
My deepest condolences to the family on the passing of Dr. Jack Perkins. He was deeply interested and a tower of strength (and height) in supporting academic and athletic programs at Brandon University.
I still remember and am deeply indebted to Dr. Perkins for his help when I was working on my doctorate. My first ever "computer" crashed and I lost all of my work and I did not have a back up system. Dr. Perkins was the only computer person who could salvage my work. Not only did he salvage my work, he set up a back up system on floppy disks so that I would not be in this situation again. I am forever grateful.

Dear Perkins Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Perkins a couple years ago at the Healthy Living Centre. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him! He had a way of making you feel important irregardless of the position you held. Thank you for supporting him during his many years of building Brandon University into what it is today. Our condolences to Mary Louise, family and friends.
Warm Regards,
Todd & Katie Martin

We too are sorry to hear of Jack's passing. What an impressive career he had, one of which to be proud. My contact with Jack was through computers when I signed up for that DOS course about 1990 with an eventual family history book in mind. Then, with the introduction of the GST in 1991 and the special requirements for being able to provide appropriate receipts and information, it soon became obvious that our auction business could no longer manage with pen and paper and hand-written receipts. Commercial auction programs did not meet our requirements and after considerable research, we engaged Jack Perkins to design a program that did meet our needs. That was an interesting exercise in communications as Jack was not familiar with what took place during the kind of farm and household auctions we did and I had little understanding of computer programming. But we worked it out. Jack selected the appropriate type of notebook computer and printer for the job, upgraded the system over the years and was always available for trouble shooting, sometimes in mid-auctions. The auction program worked very well for many years until we eventually retired. Jack was our go-to person when the home computer system developed issues, setting up the replacement in our home, making sure that everything was connected and operating smoothly. Jack was always thorough, kind and patient. He will be missed. Our condolences to Mary Louise and the family. Bill & Eleanor Burch

We are so sorry to hear of the death of Dr. Perkins. Many years ago, around 1990, I took a computer course with Dr. Perkins. It was a small lab with only a dozen participants and my first experience with using a computer. He taught us basic DOS and SMART integrated software. But he went above and beyond the classroom and actually went to Radio Shack and picked up a Tandy 286 with all that was needed to set it up in our home. He then spent a few hours installing it and making sure that everything was connected and the software installed. He was the kind of teacher that took pride in teaching and seeing his students succeed. Our deepest condolences. Maria Egilsson
