To Michael & Patricia
I was very saddened to hear of your mother`s passing.I last saw your mother at the last Federal election voting station and we exchanged a big hug. What a wonderful lady she was! I was recently talking with Brian Bunch on the phone ( he is now living in Montreal) and we talked about all the great times we spent at your home jamming with other band members and staying until late at night playing music and never a complaint from your mom. I know she loved music and how could you not being married to Cham..Both of them played an important part in our musical lives and all the good times spent with them will never be forgotten."Jo" will be greatly missed but leaves behind the best of memories. My sincere condolences to you both.

My sincere condolences to you all. I remember fondly my years at BGH School of Nursing with Shirley Jo at the helm. This picture kind of sums up for me her fun-loving relationship with her students as she joined in during Spirit Week, dressing up in what was I'm sure a hand-made costume of her creation. Her name tag says "Medieval Punk" in case it is hard to read. So sorry for your loss. Naomi Russell (Class of 1990)

I was heart broken to hear of your mothers' passing...indelible in my heart and mind are the fabulous times "jamming" in the 60's at your home in the music room. Your parents where extremely classy, friendly and talented people and will always be remembered by so many. Please accept my sincere condolences.
Brian Bunch.

Shirley Jo was a very special person. She 'lit up the room' when she entered due to her infectious smile and warmth of personality. She is truly missed! She was a very loyal Christian who worshipped at St. Mary's Anglican Church on 1st St. in Brandon. Shirley Jo was a great support to the Clergy who served there. Dear friend, would you pray for us yet on earth! May God's Comforting Spirit comfort the family. Much Love, Rev. Garry & Judy MacDowall.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I was one of Mrs. Paine's first year nursing students at BGH in 1966, graduating in1969. I am sure I can speak for our whole class when I say that Mrs. Paine was beloved! Not only was she kind and understanding but involved and inspiring as a teacher! She was an example of what you would strive to be as a nurse. May you take comfort in knowing the difference she made in many others lives. Bonnie Nay, Class of 69.

I heard this very sad news this morning and my eyes filled with tears for the loss of such a wonderful friend, leader, and mentor to so many. I hold many fond memories... the School plays when Jo dressed up like Pippy-L-S, when she took me under her wing and I accompanied her to a nurse theorist conference in Edmonton, as well as the great times we shared co-teaching a course in the new post-RN program she spear-headed. Shirley Jo was a legend and ahead of her time in so many ways. I will miss her terribly. Please accept my deepest sympathies on behalf of Zenon and myself. We wish you strength and courage at this time and as the future unfolds.
