I was the one who babysat for Larry Clark so he could go to those socials! I remember your dad as a good man, who cared about other people and worked for social justice. Holding the whole Burgess family in my heart.

I had the pleasure of working with Bill at the impressionable age of 19 in the Continuing Ed Dept of BU. He made each day enjoyable, light, and yes, there was always the threat of song. :) He had a way of being that the world needs more of. His family and those that knew him well were certainly blessed. My condolences to you all.

My husband Edwin and I send our deepest sympathy to the family of Bill Burgess on his passing.
I first met Bill when I started working at Brandon University in 1983 and can attest to the great person he was. Edwin and I had the pleasure of being with Bill and Joan at the famous jazz socials back in the day when Larry Clark who was also a jazz fan was instrumental in organizing the get togethers, along with Les (Cham) Paine. Such a great couple Bill and Joan.
May your memories last you forever.

Dear Joe and family,
I still can see him sitting there in those bleachers during our basketball games at VM. Biggest proudest smile, biggest laugh. Even when we weren't at our best, always a positive greeting after the game. What a wonderful man. So sorry to hear of his passing.

How great to hear from you! I remember dad and mom telling us about Blake. Didn't your daughter also deliver their paper? Mom and dad were very fond of them. Hope to see you Wednesday at the service!

Dear Leslie, Steve, Jock Lynn and Joe,
I am so very sorry to read about the loss of your wonderful Dad. He and your Mom were the most welcoming, accepting, loving and non judgemental people I have ever met. They loved you all so much and through you they accepted everyone that you cared for as their own. I don't know what I would have done without your parents in my life. They embodied all that we should all aspire to be.
Their love for each other, and their children, and their open welcoming household was an example to me that I will carry forever.
I hope that your Dad and Mom are now dancing together to Rita Coolidge "we're all alone". They had a beautiful life together.
I will be thinking of you all as you gather together this Wednesday in Brandon.
With love and my deepest condolences,
Cindy Mitchell

My wife, Celia, and I send our sincere condolences on the passing of Bill, such a fine man.
Bill and I organized two Knox United Church events. One was a Passover "Seder" designed to help Knox members understand what Christ might have experienced. The second event was a seminar, with music and discussion, on the topic of "forgiveness." Both events were well-attended-and-received.
What stays with me these many years later is that Bill, a man of great integrity, intelligence and sense of humour, was genuinely keen on building bridges and making community.
We have only fond memories of Bill, count ourselves lucky to have known and worked with him.

It was great to live on Clement Drive . We saw Joan and Bill coming and going and we were fortunate to be invited to a neighborhood Christmas party a couple of times.
Their home was always festive and welcoming and of course there were treats and fun things for the kids to do downstairs. When our son Blake was around 10, about 16 years ago, he joined Bill at his house to watch the Bobcat Basketball team win the national tournament by the last shot. Bill and Blake hooped and hollered and rejoiced in that victory. Blake still talks about that day. I also enjoyed reading "Who killed Mom" for the insight into the Burgess household. I still have that book and its one that will stay in my collection. We were very fortunate to have such lovely and loving neighbours on our street. Take care and enjoy the many good memories, Will and Susan Majcher
