It s with deepest sorrow to learn about Uncle Sam's passing on. He was a wonderful close friend who used to encourage me during tough times, we would share our joys and sorrows and trust the Lord together. I'm so sad I was too far to say ģoodbye but I'm consoled by the fact that he s resting at home with the Lord. I can share with the kids Isaiah 57:1-2. Isaiah 49:14-16. Please be comforted, Daddy loved God, so it s well with him.
Lots of love

TRIBUTE TO DR. SAMUEL NYARKO
"Prof" , We remember the times you were with us in the University of Ghana, Legon and while you were in Cambridge and we were in London in the 1970s with fond memories. You were very joyful and always with a smile and a laughter. We also remember the time you volunteered to carry the flowers to meet Eunice at the London airport when she first arrived from Ghana.
During your illness we found you still very cheerful and bearing up in faith. You made it easy for us to keep in touch and share fellowship with you.
You were a strong Christian, a brilliant scientist, a distinguished colleague, a dedicated educator and a wonderful friend. May you rest in peace in the Lord and may God comfort and strengthen your family.

Sam and I were colleagues at the University of Swaziland between 1992 and 1994. Because we are both Ghanaians and Christians, we soon became close family. Sam's was a simple but beautiful life lived to the glory of God. His Christ-like love drew people to him and made it easy for people to be bonded with him. Friends like Prof. Chisanga and her daughter Nyangu soon became our friends too. Sam's kindness, devotion to the well-being of others, his generosity, graciousness and the capacity of being able to turn a dark situation into one of light for others and the countless other things that he did is the reason we affectionately called him Uncle Sam.
It hurts to accept that we will never again have him visit us here in Ghana. However, we rejoice that the hard and narrow places in which life placed Uncle Sam, it can be said of him that he was a victorious Christian. Enam, my daughter and I and Theresa and her daughter, Nyangu will take comfort in knowing that Uncle Sam found a new freedom in living a life of praise and thanksgiving to God in his most difficult times. His positive attitude made it possible for us to relate with him till the end of his mortal life. We give all praise and thanks to God the Father for Uncle Sam's life. Enam and I remain forever grateful to God for the role Uncle Sam played in our lives.
May he rest in peace.
Our condolences to Maria and Millie, his dear daughters, and the rest of Sam's close family and friends.

Prof., you have been my inspiration growing up as little boy in Asawasi, Kumasi. Whenever I meet with your nephew Kofi U. playing as little boys and we talked about your academic laurels and we all wanted to be like you. I was elated when I spoke to you 10 years ago after I graduated from my doctoral program. You praised me and made me feel honored and accomplished. To date nobody has given me that kind of recognition after graduation. I appreciated that acknowledgement. It was unfortunate when I spoke to you 18 months ago when you told me of your ailment. I remembered you in my prayers and thought that you were going to feel better for me to visit you in Manitoba. I was eager to talk to you the last time I called your house when Ayeley was visiting but I couldn't. I was saddened to learn from your niece Akweley's post that you had passed. The Good Lord knows what's best for us. May the Good Lord keep you till we meet in heaven. Rest in peace.. Bro Sammy

Dr. Sam! What a wonderful professor and what a memorable man. Every student of life should have been as fortunate as I to be influenced by his teaching and his style.
When I returned to university in retirement and needed to complete my math requirement, Dr. Sam told me that it would be "fun". Many months and good chats later, he was right!
We will miss his smile in the halls of UCN.

We met Sam in 1985 when he moved to Brandon with his family to take up his position at Brandon University. We remained close over the years even when one of us is teaching in Africa.
Sam is a very devout Catholic and was steady fast in his faith. Even though he was ill, he was making concrete plans for his retirement.
We are very fortunate to have had a good visit with Sam just a few days before he passed. We admired his positive attitude in the face of his illness.
Our condolences go out to his daughters and other family members.
Rest in Peace Sam. You will certainly be missed.

We are sad that the cheerful professor Dr. Sam Nyarku, who would magnetize you with his genuine smile and happy attitude has died RIP. What a contribution he made to his students and colleagues over the years!
His first stay in Brandon was almost 10 years. My son, who was a student at the time, thought highly of him and he was one of his favourite professors.
He had to work in far away Namibia until he was invited to join the BUNTEP group (Brandon University Northern Teacher Education Program). It became his passion for many years where he loved traveling to native reservations and helping out the under-privileged citizens to succeed in life.
His favorite undertaking was the Federal Promoscience grant we got together. It was one of the first grants allocated in the country. For 3 and a half years we visited dozens of schools in mostly isolated reserves treating the kids to the marvels of science, Sam performing the "wonders" of chemistry and physics to excited audience of students and teachers and giving out free samples!
He was a man of faith and this was obvious in his conversations. He bore his crosses humbly.
Sam Rest in Peace, may God be merciful to you and your family. You loved your family and they loved you. You are missed. We will always remember you.
Your friend and colleague,
Michael Issigonis

Sam leaves only good memories for this BUNTEP colleague. He was always pleasant and had a ready laugh. One evening Sam, David Westfall and I had dinner and the three of us roared with laughter at our life experiences. I also remember that Sam contributed such a large cheese platter it took a week to eat it all. When I last visited with Sam he was intent on getting better and back to teaching so this is sad news. From Joseph Baffoe (Adade)
Kumasi - Ghana
Although death has taken you from me but your memories and motivations will never be forgotten. I quite remember you advising me that, attending church only is not enough but putting into practice what you have heard from church, makes you a good Christian. Also, when you heard that I was taking care of my younger sister in Senior High School, you inspired me to keep on doing it. Again, when I informed you of my intentions to further my studies you were very happy and when I told you of how I was going to pay my own fees you were astonished and encouraged me never to give up in life. To me uncle, you were a great motivator in my entire life. Lastly, on the fourth of August I called you and after I had asked about how you were faring, you started to bless me and that was the last time I talked to my "friend ". Uncle, you are not just a Catholic but also a Marian Devotee and I believe that was why you died on the day of the Blessed Virgin Mary which is 13th of every month. Uncle, I will forever miss your words encouragement, generosity, patience and your spirit of fortitude. I believe you are resting peacefully in the bossom of Abraham. Till we meet again .AMEN:bouquet::hibiscus::bouquet::hibiscus:
