Mom (known as Annette Lillian or Lillian Annette, Lill, Lilly and finally gram) was born the youngest child to a High Tor homesteading family on April17, 1938. The family moved to farm around Gainsborough, Sk when she was about ten years old but Babes travelled often to her roots "up north". Mom loved and lived to socialize. An artsy fartsy social butterfly who occupied her spare time doing crafts, travelling and gardening.
She married a hard working/fun loving Mervin Pirie and they traversed western Canada raising four children. In 1991 she married her long time friend Gordon Taylor (Mr. T) Mr & Mrs T settled in Souris, Mb, blending their older families and making many new friends in their travels.
After his death she married hometown guy Gordon McMaster but rheumatoid arthritis had plagued those Wang sisters. She had been president of the Brandon Arthritis Support group for many years but in 2013 another fall resulted in a bleed on her brain. Although she recovered remarkably well, she never regained independent mobility and spent her last years enjoying the company of bed side visitors and phone calls.
I have many wonderful memories of travels thru life with mom but my favourite is with me driving into the setting sun with the trappers/homesteaders/farmers daughter (mom) arguing with the military girl (me) that we were heading straight north and laughing as she said "I guess we are heading west sis". I laughed and said "west west north west".
Once on her visits to Kingston, Ontario when she went home our scrabble matches (penny a point) resulted in one of us owing the other one two cents. :)
She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Anne Wang, her sister Evelyn, her oldest son Dale, her brother Bud, sisters Lenore and Joan, her husbands Mervin Pirie and Gordon Taylor. She was survived by her children Shelley, Rob and Dean. Her brother Ralph along with many grands, step grands, greats, kin folk and friends.
Ralph and Dean have since passed away. Anyone that played Canasta with mom knows that the paperwork must be in order. We will now be getting to her service and affairs. May you finally rest in peace my mom my per(s)fect mom.

Regretfully due to circumstances out of our control it is my sad Duty to announce the cancellation of internment and celebration of life for Lillian Annette Wang-McMaster, June 2nd 2018. With all my heart and great pride I wish to thank my brother Robert and his wife Kathy for their efforts in organizing this event. Also many thanks to my sister-in-law Rose Pirie and all my nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A big thank you to the community as well. Mother's spirit lives in us all and a little bump in the road never mattered much. Her final wish was for family, friends and especially the children, to be together in the spirit of love and family in recognition of a life well lived that touched us all. Perhaps that time will come, until then Ms. Lillian will be patiently resting.
Thank you
Dean Pirie

I am very grateful for Lillian being in the last 19 years of my Dad's life. Gordon McMaster married Lillian in April, 1998. She brought many happy years into his life. Right from the beginning they were on the go, travelling on a moment's notice, to new places and for my Dad meeting new people. Many would say they were inseparable. The best part was that they truly enjoyed spending all their time with each other. They shared many common interests - from planting many new lily bulbs each spring to assisting her with making quilts in the winter. His hobby was carpentry so he had his carpenter's square to cut the material for her - I'm not sure that Lillian approved of this way to cut material but she never said a word about it - at least not to him. Each fall they did canning together - filling up the root cellar. They worked on crossword puzzles daily and this is when the many dictionaries came in handy. They enjoyed looking for the answers together. Being an expert in art she taught him to paint. They were very fortunate to have such a loving and caring relationship. When she became hospitalized he visited her daily even though his own health was failing. In January 2016 he was deemed to be terminal. He was able to move to Fairview. They were able to be together again and were able to really enjoy their last special occasion together being valentine's day 2017. They provided much care and comfort to each other for that last year. Rest in Peace Lillian.

Was a very nice obituary, hard to believe . She will rest in peace with her family . One of my memories of Aunt Lill was when she would leave me the cream separator to wash, we would argue then my mom would tell me to do it as Babes was tired.. Sympathy to all your family from mine in BC.

Little did we know, what a good time we were going to have the day that the van and the Celebrity pulled up at the house for sale across the street! A feller with a crumpled stetson and a little lady, the Taylors, arrived to liven up our neighbourhood and our household. Lill and Gord were the best of friends to one another and to us, and our children gained another set of grandparents. Lill's years spent in Souris were happy times, inspite of all the health issues they both faced without complaint. Our sincere sympathy to Shelley, Dean and Rob, and families, and to Dale's family; to the Taylor families who so kindly cared for Lill and their Grandpa Taylor as well. They are sadly missed!
