Justina and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking, and just when you think you are coming around and seeming like it's getting better. It just hits you all over again. All the memories shared are all you to have now.....they can never be taken away even though Leonard is not there sharing new ones with you. At times you will wonder what he would have thought or said or say oh,too bad he isn't here to see this! There are many moments like that when you just want to ask him something and then remember he is no longer here to ask. May all the thoughts and prayers that are sent your way, help you through this time just knowing there are others that care.

My fondest memory of Uncle Leonard was when he took me to his barber for a haircut. I was 16 yrs old, decided to get a perm. I'd never had one, wanted to see what I'd look like. Well, as it turned out I hated it, AND it was WAY more money than I'd thought it would be. $60, a lot for any kind of style back then. Uncle Leonard saw by the look on my face that something was wrong. When he asked I told him it wasn't what I thought it would be. He said, "You don't like the haircut?" I shook my head. "And it was more money than I thought it would be," I said sheepishly. "How much?" asked Uncle Leonard, neck strained forward with hard curiosity. When I told him he just lost his cool and stormed over to the hair salon to talk to his hair dresser. After a lengthy, heated conversation with the man Uncle Leonard came back to where my Dad and I were standing (in awe and disbelief), and said, "I can't BELIEVE that piece of $@%# charged you that much! I told him you didn't like the haircut, and you should f&@€ing get your money back, but he refuses. What a piece of #%¥@" I'm never going back that f#*£er again." Now, it wasn't the stylists fault that I didn't like the perm, just one of those things. But the way Uncle Leonard stood up for me! He was my hero that day, as he still is today, and as he shall be every day. May you rest in peace, Uncle Leonard.

Justina, Curt and family, and Sondra and family. My heart is broken for you all. I was so saddened to hear of Leonard's passing. All the good times still remain some of "THE BEST TIMES".. I am thinking of you all in the sad days, weeks and months ahead. I see him clasping his head and shaking it in overwhelming laughter, in a competitive game of Uno. He loved you all so much. My Deepest Sympathy, Love you all. Lisa Newton

Hi Justina,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Leonard's passing and your great loss. Although we did not see each other often, the both of you have frequently been in my thoughts, especially more so recently, having heard from Shirley, that Leonard was not feeling very good. I am also saddened that I was not able to come and see you earlier.
I will always remember our good times together when we were younger, working away from home in Ontario and Alberta. We travelled together in Leonard's Cutlass, and had many laughs, as we found our way into the work force as young teenagers.
Even before that, as younger kids, we farmed next door to Leonard and his family, and what I remember most was their tremendous hospitality and generosity. We became instant friends, the very first day we met.
I want to express my deepest sympathy to you. In John 11: 25, Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." May the Lord hold you close, comfort you, and give you peace and hope.
My prayers are with you,
Love, Brian Peters

Aunt Justina, Curtis & Sondra
So very sorry to hear of uncle Leonard's passing. May you find comfort and peace in knowing he no longer is suffering and in remembering all the special times you shared. It is hard to believe that he won't be there in Brandon any longer to welcome Alberta family members making the long road trip through to Winkler. It was always a stop we looked forward to and enjoyed the hospitality we were shown. He will be missed.
