Krystle,
I was so saddened to read Nick's obituary in the Brandon Sun last week. I have
memories of a student with an infectious grin and twinkling eyes which always seemed to lessen the mischief he found himself in. I had hoped to connect with you at the service
but was unable to do so. What a difficult time for you and your mother. My prayers are with you and my heart is heavy.

Becky and Krystle, I am so sorry to hear about Nick's passing. I will never forget having him and Krystle in my daycare, He was always such a nice boy with the cutest smiles and sparkling eyes. He always showed real concern for the other kids in my care. I wish I would have had a chance to see the man that he had grown in to. You are both in our thoughts and prayers.

I just wanted to share one of my memories of my good friend. When I was in Winnipeg with my wife and Nick a homeless person was asking us for money and at the time we saw the guy we didn't have any money. Nick realized that he did have a little bit of money. He found the guy later and gave him the money he had. Nick was very caring and at the time I didn't realize how giving he was. It really impressed me and my wife that he did that. It was an honour to be your friend and co-worker.

Becky, I wanted so much to tell you today after Nick's service how much he affected all of our lives here at work, but just could not seem to bring myself to do that. It is a loss that has hit so hard as he genuinely cared so much for the people he supported and understood them in a way that you only can when you spend years with a person. Your son made such an impact on so many lives.....always know that. You created a beautiful person and the world is simply less beautiful now because of his passing.

I always referred to Nick as my nephew. He always loved a hug and as he grew to a man, he would envelope you in his hugs. You could feel his joy. We lost touch for awhile as often happens in life. Next time we saw him, it was like we had never been separated. He was full of life, full of love, and on his next chapter of life. He loved his family, and life revolved around Liam. I will miss those smiles that spread over his entire face making his eyes tiny slits with diamonds shining from his soul. You can be very proud of the man and father he became. Heartfelt sorrow for the entire family.

I have so many beautiful memories in my childhood with Nick.
It breaks my heart to hear this news. I cant even imagine the hurt you and your family are feeling.
I hope sharing some of these thoughts will make you smile, as you know Nick had a one of a kind personality.
... I called him nickabobblecrane... :smirk:.
He and I made the very best 2nd grade science project using official canary poop from my moms bird cage.
He was the only friend I had that would walk me home from school, 241 1st Street, right to the door ..... Even in the snow...
Nothing was better than his grin after he would pull pranks on all of our school teachers, he was always an entertainer!
Boy that kid could spell!!!!!!!!
He always wore his ski pants! He would never take off those ski pants!
He was by far the most polite boy I had ever met and I know his mom had a lot to do with that.
Nick had the biggest brown eyes and the brightest smile.
I only wish I had known him as the amazing person and Father he grew up to be. I have enjoyed reading the memories He has left so many people with throughout his journey in life.
Nickabobblecrane :heartpulse:
There isn't a person I know that grew up with Nick who's heart doesn't ache for you all right now.
He will forever be a part of my childhood and a part of who I am today.
I'm thinking of you all. Sending my love and condolences your way.

To Nick's family: I too am one of the people who "met" Nick on the Sporting News blogging site. We stayed in touch through successor sites over the years. I actually had the pleasure of meeting him in Brandon in July 2012 at the old Zeller's/Target location. He seemed to be just as nice of a guy in person as he was in the blogosphere. I met one of his clients, Ty, also; and we all had a good chat about hockey. Of course Nick was in a Penguins shirt (and me in my favorite team's shirt!) even though we met by accident. We knew each other by our shirts!
I am very sorry for your loss. May the Living God comfort you in ways that only He can. Peace to you.

Becky, Liam & Family...I couldn't be more sorry for your loss. Nick was one of the most gentle, kindhearted & thoughtful Support Staff we had at Family Visions. He was always dependable and always willing to help when we needed. Nick was a stand up guy. Definitely something to be proud of. Tyrel & Lee were more than happy to have had Nick as a part of their lives. I count myself lucky to have known him and had a chance to work with him as well. He is greatly missed!

My condolences to Becky and family. Nick's commitment to his position at Family Visions was commendable. He was a valued worker to the individuals that he supported within our Agency. His absence is being felt by those that he has always supported with genuine care and compassion. Even while dealing with his health issues Nick was always upbeat and positive about moving forward with his position at Family Visions. We will miss his thoughtfulness and his kindness. I belong to an online group of about 20 guys and gals, from all over Canada and America, that play fantasy sports and talk sports(mainly hockey). We all met on The Sporting News probably 15 years ago during the NHL playoffs. In the early days we all butted heads with our strong personalities, as most young men do. However in the years since we have all come to really respect and admire every member of our group as we got to know each other better, of which Nick was one of our most vocal and inspirational members. For the last several years I personally have thought of Nick as a great friend, I only wish I could have known him better, and especially could have met him in person. Nick was a heck of a competitor and was definitely an uber-passionate hockey fan. Nick will truly be missed, as I know every one of our group was heartbroken to hear of his passing. I wanted to offer my condolences, from North Carolina, to his family and friends our prayers are with you.

Nick Sloan, what can I say about a man I met in Grade 10 in Food Services that just made every day an adventure. Nick made sure to pull a prank nearly every single day no matter how much he got in trouble, he just had to pull something. My favorite was when our teacher would be turned around he would somehow sneak behind him and put a carrot stick on top of our teacher's chef's hat (Sorry Mr. O) without getting caught. He would teach half the class without knowing and wouldn't know what was so funny I got to watch him do these types of things every day and he would always have a smile on his face while doing it. I miss you so much buddy ,and I'll miss our bickering back and forth over the Bruins and Penguins, Batman and Superman, Fantasy Football, our love for Hip Hop and the White boys are going to miss the third man in our crew when we go to any more concerts. Love you buddy, you're in a better place.
