May you find strength from each other as you grieve your loss. I only learned of Betty's passing this morning, May 7th, 2017. Faith,Brenda,Bonnie, Holly and families,
Your mother was a wonderful, caring person. She had an attitude of living with grace and kindness toward everyone around her and I felt this whenever I saw her.
I remember her as our good neighbor in Beaver. She was a beautiful young woman who was an excellent seamstress. She taught me sewing in the 4-H club. She had endless patience! She was committed to our small Beaver church. I remember our mothers decorating and cleaning the church.
She was the best letter writer. She wrote such thoughtful and compassionate letters when my Mum was ill and then after Mum and Dad passed away.
I know that her legacy of love and good-heartedness will live on in those she loved.
With my sincere sympathy,
Myrna Stefanson (Graham)

Our sincere sympathy to the family. We remember Betty's sincere and very warm smile - the radiation of her personality. She was such a lovely lady always interested in those around her and so keen to share the activities of her family - she was so proud of all of you. May your wonderful memories keep her close in your heart. Jennifer Zilm and Bill Prosser

Dear Betty, you have passed on but your memory will live in us forever. We will never forget how we first met you and Roy almost 20 years ago, and how that very first sight of you and how that very first greeting from you to us as your new next door neighbour instantaneously won our heart over confirming without any shred of doubt that we had made the wonderful choice of purchasing our very first home next to you. Our happy memory from our first few years of living on Balmoral Bay has been forever linked to the way how you are remembered as the most gentle , and most kind and most generous person we have ever met in our lives. Our sense of home is so much consolidated , and our daily life is so much enriched. How many times Roy came over with his handy hands to fix things for us, and how many times you came over showing my wife Ping hand by hand how to start her first ever garden. It was during my early years living on Balmoral Bay that I picked up my paintbrush again to start painting using your beautiful garden as my very first source of inspiration ! and over the decade, my daily painting regime has never stopped , and each time I stepped outside painting with brush and easel, I could somehow feel your presence long after you moved away. You will not only be fondly remembered by us here in Brandon , but also by my sister's family who stayed with us here on Balmoral Bay for two years , and by my parents in China who met you in 2002 upon their first visit to Canada and visited with you again upon their last visit to Canada in 2013, and especially by Sarah, our daughter who had never failed to receive her birthday card from you each year while she was a university student away from home in Edmonton. It was very sad for us to say goodbye to you upon our last visit to you. However, it was also a consolation for us to know that you have finally been relived of all the earthly paint and suffering from illness and ascended into the loving arms of our creator where we shall all meet again!
Weiming , Ping, and Sarah

Know that you will all be in my thoughts, especially tomorrow for Aunt Betty's service. She was a well-loved example to so many of us for her courage during sad times and her strength to carry on. Hers was a long life, shared and admired by her extended family. She will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the Harkness family on the passing of a loving Mom and great friend. I enjoyed my weekly visits and Betty remarked last Wednesday that Daughter on Call made a good match. She loved playing scrabble and going to Co-op for hot chocolate. RIP Betty you fought a hard battle .
Love you always,
Lois Grieve ,Daughter on Call
