Gary Ackert posted a condolence
Wednesday, November 23, 2016
From Gary & Lynda Ackert,
I spoke recently with hunting partner Bill Dickes, and we shared some wonderful memories about staying with Edith & Murray & their girls. Our first trip to Medora was in 1976. The Sambrooks were kind enough to let us stay in their basement. We became like really weird, older, adopted sons from another planet.
Bill and I would go out hunting geese in the morning. I guess that Edith probably wondered why two allegedly smart, college-educated guys, who worked for an innovative company like 3M, would drive 25 hours round trip, to shoot at birds that basically landed right in her front yard in Fall. But she was kind enough to never point out the insanity of this behavior.
When we would return from a morning's hunt, we might find her at the kitchen window. We would hold up the morning's results outside the window, which usually amounted to no more than 2 or 3 muddy, scraggly-looking birds. This usually was enough to generate Edith's world class giggle, which after all was the point of exercise.
One morning as we were having coffee in the dining area, Edith called us to the front door & said that she wanted us to see something. Shelly had just walked out the door to catch the school bus at the end of their very long driveway. At the exact, and I mean EXACT, moment that the bus arrived, and without breaking her stride, Shelly stepped up onto the bus and off it went. Edith said that this precision timing happened day after day, and we could tell that she was as amazed as we were.
We are so very glad to have these and other memories of time spent with Edith & Murray & family; and our thoughts & prayers are with Murray and the Sambrook family at this time.
With deepest sympathy,
Gary & Lynda

To: Murray, Susan, Shelley, Faye, and the entire family.
Words can't express our most sincere sadness and heartbreak when we heard the tragic news of Edith's passing. Edith was such a caring and thoughtful lady and we will miss our visits with her at our home and cottage as neighbours and good friends. She always had a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life.
Whenever our grandkids, Mason and Ava got to the lake, they would always ask, can we go and see Edith Murray? Edith always had cranberry juice and peanut butter crackers for Mason Ava as she always kept them on hand for them. They will miss her dearly as will our big kids too.
We are sorry we are away and won't be able to attend the funeral, but our thoughts and prayers with be with you all at this most difficult time.
Hugs to all of you.
Sincerely,
Bill Brenda Crossman
