To the ZInck family. Words cannot express the sadnes we are experiencing. We met Dorothy & Gary in 1974 while living in Thompson. Although we only lived there for less than a year & moved back to Winnipeg, we remained in regular contact over the years. Dorothy loved to talk on the phone to keep in touch. We'll miss those phone calls very much. She was a special person. Joanne and Wade McMahon

Dorothy was my school chum, in Milltown High School, she just called me a couple of weeks ago, and she always would say, Barb, do you remember the day we got picked for cheerleaders, I met you on the sidewalk and someone had told her we got picked, so we ran up the street into school and up to the board where our names were posted.
We were jumping up and down and squeeling so much that the principal came out and told us to get to our classroom, we were so happy. And we went together on different trips to cheer the basketball team on.
She had just a great memory, telling me about car rides we took over the bridge and her grandmother too.
Dorothy was a great person, and this is just a shock to me, and to find it out reading it in the paper, I couldn't believe my eyes, as Dorothy said we were planning a get together in the Fall, when she came over.
Also Dorothy always came to my birthday parties at my house.
I send my deepest heartfelt condolences to her family. May God Bless her family at this sad time.

I met Dorothy for the first time in Thompson Manitoba in 1997. I had just moved in next door. I was young married girl far away from home expecting her first baby and Dorothy became like a surrogate mom to me. I spent many nights at her kitchen table shedding tears of homesickness that she shared with me. My son Thomas was born and she took to him like a grandma as she was missing her own grandchildren at that time. We only lived there for 2 years but we stayed in contact over the past 17 years and had many long conversations on the phone. I was so sad to hear the news from heather tonight. Just last month when I spoke with her she promised to come to Ontario to see me. I loved her and I will miss hearing her sweet voice on the other end of the phone. I know she is at peace now. My thoughts and prayers go to Heather, Gary and Greg. Lots of love, Melissa Hobbs
