Ernest was my favorite neighbor when I was growing up on Regent Crescent. I had my very first garden tomato from his backyard garden - and to this day when I pick tomatoes in my own backyard garden, I think of him and that tomato he gave me. It was the most delicious thing I had ever eaten, and I still eat the first tomato of the season the same way he introduced it to me: sliced on a piece of bread, with some cheese on top and under the broiler.
I last saw Ernest and Cheryl in January 2016, at my father's funeral. It was both a shock and a joy to see them again - the shock of course of my father's sudden death, and the joy of course of seeing our dear former neighbors. My dad always boasted that he had the best neighbors in the world, and having those precious neighbors there to support and grieve with us long after they had moved away validated everything my dad had believed. Ernest was a good person through and through. Godspeed.

Sincere sympathies to CHERYL, KIM and CHRIS- we got to know ERNIE through U C T - where he was an active member- be it at Regionals- or the James B. Chrisp annual Corn Roast. Our last time together was at Tim Hortons-where we parted with his big smile still in our memories.
He will be missed by all.

Cheryl and family,
Nancy and I were very saddened to hear of Ernie's passing. Nancy always had a nice story to relay every time she came back from making an Avon delivery to you. Whenever we passed your house on Regent and Ernie was outside he always made a point of waving. We will be thinking of the family tomorrow and please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

A dark cloud has just came over us. Our sincere condolences are extended to Cheryl and the family. Ernie always had a big smile and firm handshake whenever we chanced to meet in a coffee shop or in a doorway.....a bright spot in my day. He was a part-time driver/attendent in our early years. We could always rely on Ernie to treat our folks with respect and dignity that they deserved. This is certainly a tragic loss to everybody who knew this dear sweet man.......we lost a friend today, and we will miss him. Be Strong Cheryl. Your Friends Lindsay and Vickie Rystephanuk
