Dear Elsie, Candace, David and family,
I am so sorry to have missed Lorne's service, and want to send my sincere condolences and blessings.
Lorne will long be remembered as ' our favourite policeman' who singlehandedly made such a positive connection between the children and the police..
I don't believe that there would be a child in Meadows who didn't know Constable Demchuk and they always looked forward to the classroom visits. They were always fun with Lorne while he, at the same time, made sure that the children realised the seriousness of the information.
I know you will have wonderful memories of your own that will keep Lorne with you in your heart, but know, too, that there are many others who will have fond memories of a " great guy" and good friend.
Sincerely.
Jean Curtis

Deepest Sympathy to you and your family. Elsie, our thoughts are with you. I will never forget the day that my sister in law mistook Lorne for Gerry .Boy was she red faced. There use to be quite a few stories that made it home . Mia certainly enjoyed his years of working together. Lorne was always so happy and smiling and never missed a chance to speak to you. Sorry we can not be with you today but I have to be in Winnipeg.
" Though it is difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow."
Sincere Sympathy

My heartfelt embrace to Elsie, David and Candace. I worked many years with Lorne at the Brandon Police Service. He was a champion of the underdog, a mentor, trusted friend and confidant, and just an all-round lovable guy. He took a lot of ribbing whenever he wore his motorcycle pants, but he loved riding that bike. My first day on the job he took me under his wing and shared with me all his wisdom, mostly just to laugh. I will miss my friend and wish his family strength and love in the days ahead.....Carol Fisher

Dear Elsie and Family: Thinking of you and your wonderful husband and dad, Lorne. We shared many happy times at staff get togethers - some of which were at the farm. Lorne's positive and cheerful nature was much appreciated. So were his skills at making redneck mini golf courses! Of course, we will also remember him as the Grandfather to our kittens that he sent us home with ( even though it was only supposed to be one!!)!! Hugs to you all!
Sincerely, Vanda Mitri and family.

Dear Elsie and family. My first memories of Lorne were in his capacity as Constable Demchuk driving around in his little police car with the hat, as he toured the schools with Safety Sal and Cautious Cal. I was in elementary school at the time and his visits were always cause for excitement amongst me and my classmates. He left a lasting impression. Later, after starting my law practice, Lorne became my "go to" process server and PI. He was always willing to help out, once at the expense of a dog bite when he was serving someone for me. We had many laughs about it and I was always apologizing to him for making him serve those documents. Lorne was a wonderful person, a friendly face, and an authentic soul. He will be missed, but always remembered. David Swayze

Dear Elsie and family. We were very sad to hear about Lorne's passing. Lorne and I were on the same platoon at the Police Station in the 70's. I still remember a platoon get together at your house on Victoria Ave. in the east end. In recent years I would run into him on his motorcycle. Cindy would also often see him at the hospital. Lorne always had a friendly word for her. We will miss him. With love - Keith and Cindy Buizer

The first time I met Lorne he treated me like we had known each other our entire lives. I had the privilege of embarking on a bike trip with Lorne and Dave, a trip full of memories and gut busting laughs. Quick with a smile and a meticulous eye for pointing out the positive qualities in others, Lorne showed me that laughter can be found in any situation.
'Sarge', thank you for being a part of my life, your influence will continue to reverberate among your family and friends, of which I was blessed to be a part of. You are dearly missed. -Poncho
