I am incredibly late to the event here (nine years), but I knew Eddie in school and then very well when we spent the summer of 1964 working together on the Trans-Canada Pipeline across the prairie provinces, and on to northern BC in the fall to work in a remote pipeline camp at Mile 222 of the Alaska Highway for a couple of months. We roomed together in several small towns and hung out most of the summer and fall. Eddie was a rather reserved guy with a great sense of humour and a large dose of humility and integrity. I encountered him only occasionally in the years following that summer (he was a long time bartender, and served me more than once when we ran into each other) but I thought of him often and always felt honoured by his loyal friendship. I hope you are resting easy, my friend.
