We were saddened today to hear the sad news of Frank's passing, our first thoughts must go to Pat and family, we send our sincere condolences and love to you all.
Our friendship grew through our love of hockey and our friendship of a mutual friend. It was through Frank and Pat that we were kept abreast of our friends poor health, they were our "go betweens" with Ed.When ever we asked a favour, both Frank and Pat were forth coming. Alas we never met but we kept in touch through countless emails for which we are grateful. Thank you Frank for your help and your frienship-------until next we meet.

Pat and family:
Frank was part of the group that established the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. He served the organization well for many years. He was so easy to work with--always in good humour, always prepared to discuss issues intelligently. We will always be grateful for his service to our Hall of Fame.
Of course many of us also knew Frank through other sports, and we regarded him as a tiresome worker and good friend.
All the best to the family.
Morris Mott,
Chairman,
Board of Directors,
Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

Mr. McKinnon was the Principal at Carman Collegiate and you were a big part of all our lives that went there. I graduated back in 1987 and he taught me something that I will always take with me. The Morden hockey team asked me to go to a hockey tournament (pretty cool since I played for the JV Carman Cougars). I had a league game with the JV Cougars against Altona, and I asked him if I could miss the game to go with the Morden team to the tournament. Well all who knew Mr. McKinnon (also my hockey coach) was not impressed and said that I needed to make that decision on my own. He said Brian your team needs you, and I said we are not going to win against Altona they beat us 12-0 last time. He said maybe it will be a tough game but I promise you, you will learn something in this next game. So the next game came and I played with the JV Carman Cougars and we lost 13-1. He was right it was a tough game but I got the one goal that night, and I never learned so much in one night as I did that game.
It was truly an honour to have met you Mr. Frank McKinnon. RIP

Well, said, Don.
So much has been reported this past week about Frank's amazing contributions to Canadian and international hockey. Carman's Brian Parker eloquently reminded us about Frank's being a dedicated and proficient educator. Many of us were also blessed to know Frank as a talented and inspiring musician. I remember singing with him in Carman United Church's senior choir, and playing alongside him in Carman's community band. Frank and his tenor saxophone occasionally lent their expertise to Carman Collegiate's concert and stage band practices, and this is where I remember Frank's big smile - and the delightful twinkle in his blue eyes - best: casually sharing a common passion, not as our principal, but as our bandmate.
Play on, Frank.
With love,
Marjorie Patterson

I would like to extend my sympathies to Frank's family. I am saddened to hear of his passing but I am also grateful that I had a chance to know him. I believe the photo on this page is well-chosen - Frank's big smile symbolised his approach to people and his approach to life. That smile is part of what I will remember about Frank - a wonderful person.
