Oh Mrs Gibson. You were a true person with integrity and strength. You hired me way back when (1976) at K-mart and gave me a chance. Who would have known some 40 years later that you started me off in my career. To hear of your passing made me stop and look at my life and how I got where I did! Both Brenda and I were saddened that the world lost a person like you. May you rest in peace but know that you truly made a mark on so many people! Deepest Sympathy's to your family! They (We) lost a wonderful person!

No one loved to pull a prank more than Aunty Ollie. Her zest for life and love of people always shone thru. She loved a her nieces and nephews like no one else. She never forgot our birthdays and always enjoyed a conversation on the phone. She always "got us last" in the strangest of places and could out run most of us. The sun rose and set on her Jackie and of course Pat was the daughter she always wanted. When it came to Brittany she was so proud of her. She just beamed when she spoke about her grand daughter. You were a great strength to your nephews and nieces when we lost our parents. You also gave the greatest hugs and unconditional love. Sending much love to Jack, Pat and Brittany.

I was not as blessed as all of you to have personally known Mrs. Gibson. However, I was fortunate enough to get to know her throughout the years through her loving daughter-in-law, Pat who looked up to Mrs. Gibson as a second mother. Mrs. Gibson was a very strong woman, loving wife, loving mother to her beloved and treasured son, Jack. She was a very proud grandmother to Brittany Gibson who was the apple of her eye. They were so close and the best of friends. Mrs. Gibson was greatly loved and touched the lives of ever so many. May her family and friends take comfort in the wonderful memories and love that will forever live on in their hearts forever.
Sending my respects and deepest sympathy,
Catherine Cardozo

We knew her as Auntie Connie. Story goes that the name was a derivation of her maiden name "Konyk" and differentiated her from our Auntie Olga, Uncle Andrew's wife. The early days growing up in Transcona and living just down the block from Uncle Jack, Auntie Connie and Jack were joyous days of family filled fun and hijinks. Auntie Connie loved a spirited game of "got you last" and was the winner of our last game when she tagged me in the shower on her way home after a visit with Mum and Dad in Vancouver. Her generosity and her good humour will be my favourite memories. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Tuesday with Morrie by Mitch Albom is a true story about the love between a spiritual mentor and his pupil , it reminds us of the affection and gratitude that many of us still feel for the significant mentors of our past.
For me ..my Morrie was Mame
Someone older, patient and wiser, who understood me when I was young and searching, helped me see the world as a more profound place, gave me sound advice to help me make my way through it and was always, always encouraging.
In the 42 years I knew Mame, I never knew her to speak an unkind word to anyone. Always kind and patient an example to us all.
Looked after her Kmart family like they were her own. From sending someone to get a late employee out of bed to lending money when they couldn't make it to payday. You could always count on Mrs G to help you when you needed it and to give you "what for" when you were headed down the wrong path. In trouble with the boss , call Mrs G she will smooth it over. Today they call them HR managers, back then we just called her Mrs G, and I think we were blessed to have her fairness, patience, and kindness rather than a big fancy degree. She treated all people with respect and got plenty of respect in return. You can't teach what she had , she just had it.
Went to Bingo with Mame and Bessy , not cause I liked Bingo ..but with them it was just plain fun. She loved " Lobster Larry" and every time that I pop by a casino and I always look for Lobster Larry to play a few just for Mame. But honestly I think the big guy Larry likes Mame more than me. Maybe we will have better luck now Mame , as you sit on my shoulder.
I was fortunate to spend some time with Mame just a few weeks ago. Even with what she faced she still was an example of goodness and kindness .I held her hand ,I kissed her brow I was able to tell her how much she meant to me. She always told me she loved me and I still feel her spirit around me.
Mame I know you are in a better place , pain free, and with the ones you love...I love you Mame..thank you for being a part of my life.
Lynn
