Remembering when uncle John would make me paper birds every time he saw me, and when gran (Lena Gawiuk his sister) would take me to sandy lake and my friend and I would go on the paddle boats and get a bag of salt n vinegar chips :)
Always kind to me and always a open door to us visiting him.

My Deepest sympathy to the family. I am not a blood relatives, but your dad was always Uncle John to Albert and I. I remember great visits by Uncle John and Aunty Pearl in St.Martin. Your dad stayed with us during his first teaching assignment at Karpaty School. He was always remembered as a great teacher. He was my brothers first teacher.

Gerri, Eugene & Brian:
Our sincere condolences on the passing of your father and my Uncle John. My parents, Annie and Carl, often used to talk about how much they enjoyed their visits with Uncle John and Auntie Pearl at Sandy Lake and brag about all the fish they caught.
Our deepest sympathy at this time of sorrow to all the family.
With all our love

Gerri, Eugene, Brian and families my thoughts and prayers are with you today. No words can ease your heartache at this time, but your beautiful memories will over time fill your heart with comfort. It was mentioned of his quick wittiness. I remember when I was about 12 years old I had red nail polish on and he commented, "why are your nails bleeding?" and another time regarding my nails , he was teaching me to dive off the dock in Sandy Lake. I attempted my dive right into him as he was there for my safety and made a nasty depression in his knee, it was bleeding. All good memories of Sandy Lake will always be remembered. God bless

I did not have the pleasure of meeting John but I am fortunate to have as a friend - his very lovely daughter, Gerri. When talking about her dad you could see the pride and love in her as she spoke. Mom and dad are together now Gerri.
Sharing your tears.
Hugs

The best memory we have of Uncle John was him taking us out fishing at Sandy Lake as kids. After a full day of fishing, I remember him cleaning those fish sitting on the porch in the sun and throwing bits out to the one or two cats that would show up. How he trained all those fish to jump onto our hooks was truly amazing! Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to all the Boychuks and extended families. Kim (Lazaruk), Shane, and Jade McDonough

My love of fishing started many, many, years ago in Sandy Lake with Uncle John in a little outboard boat and 17 perch in one day. Then yearly visits with the cousins from Portage to the Pier for more fun and fishing. Forward 20 more years and I brought my own boys to Uncle John. Thank you Uncle.
