Obituary of Donald Cooper

COOPER: Lloyd "Donald" Cooper passed away suddenly at home on February 28th, 2015 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents Lloyd Cooper and Josephine (Openshaw) Cooper. Donald married the love of his life, Helen (Muir) Cooper, on September 30th, 1983 in Minnedosa. Donald will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Helen; his children: Garry (Kelly), Garth, Jacqueline (Brad), Cory (Michelle), Walter, and Charlene (Patrick). Donald's pride and joy were his seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Deven, Cody, Carla, Alexis, Sophia, and Dominick. Donald was born January 18th, 1940 in Brandon, Manitoba, where he attended school at King George. After school, Donald worked at several workplaces before he found his pride at the Westman Central Laundry at the Brandon General Hospital. He worked there for thirty years, sadly retiring in 1995 after becoming sick with meningitis in 1992. Donald was a long time member at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3 and the Army & Navy Unit #10 for twenty-five years. He had many hobbies including fishing and camping at Lake William, cribbage, cards, household renovations, gardening, attending meat draws, and watching "The Young and Restless." Of Donald's many hobbies, his favorite was spending time with his family and friends. Donald's family was everything to him. Another great love of Donald's was his puppies. Donald touched many lives and those who knew him will remember him for his goofy sense of humor, his love, his strength and courage, and sensitivity. A Celebration of Donald's Life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Arlene Robertson officiating.
