Gerald was a great friend, and I will remember many, many things about him. Our hunting trips to Wood Tower, he and I going to Grandview, cutting firewood together, hanging around Gunner arena and just visiting in the garage with him. Gerald taught all of us, including our kids, how to hunt, clean, butcher our game and everyone knew that when the blind was down on the south garage window, our deer had been harvested for another year. Anytime I visited Shilo I knew that at 9:00 on weekdays, I would find him at the Canex coffee shop, where we would strike up like we had seen each other only yesterday, when in some cases, it had been years. We played many jokes on one another, him stoking the woodstove in the hunting shack when he saw me coming, so I would sweat while trying to eat breakfast, and me giving him shelf expired German beer the following year for Christmas. He was like a father to me, and like a grandfather to our kids, and I'm very grateful. My sincere condolences to Verla, Jack, the girls, grandkids, and dear friends Grant and Darlene. Gerald, thanks for the memories.
