Obituary of Margaret Ann Preston

PRESTON: Margaret Ann Preston (née McKay), born to Gordon and Florence McKay of Killarney, Manitoba on April 22, 1937, passed away suddenly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, February 15, 2015 with Scott and Patti at her side. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Lorne Preston, and in 1960 they moved to Brandon where they began their family. Marg's greatest joy in life was her family. Together, Marg and Lorne took great pride in keeping an immaculate house and yard. They had many good friends and were very socially active. They especially enjoyed going to dances and were a very graceful couple to watch on the dance floor. They travelled throughout Canada, USA, Hawaii and Mexico. There was no other mother, more proud of her children and grandchildren. She was supportive in all that they did, whether it be hockey, baseball or shopping trips to Fargo. She always worked hard and made holidays and Christmas extra special. Marg worked part-time for 16 years at the Brandon University, retiring in September 1994. After 45 years of marriage, Lorne passed away in March 2001. Marg remained independent and with help from Patti and Scott, was able to remain in the family home until her passing. Marg enjoyed baking and gardening and was so excited to go on her annual spring road trips travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. She loved to entertain and she always had the coffee on and baking to share. Left to mourn her passing are daughter Patti and son-in-law Doug Samborski, grandsons Brayden and Mitchell, all of Winnipeg; son Scott of Brandon; her 3 four-legged friends Ogilthorpe, Zoey and Zeus; and sister-in-law Linda Maloney of Killarney. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Eleanor (Harvey) Bergen of Altona and Gail Merkley of Calgary, two brothers-in-law Russ (Aline) Preston of Lac du Bonnet and Doug (Brenda) Preston of Killarney, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marg was a doting wife, mother, grandmother and was a good friend to all. Rest in Peace. Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne, officiating.
