Much love to Auntie Doreen and the family. We always enjoyed our telephone calls with Uncle Bert. Our "catch up chats" were always a highlight and will be missed. - Tyler , Tara, and Hannah

My sincere condolences,Doreen and to your family. There are so many happy memories that we shared through our social life both at the church ,in the community and at the rink. Bert and Don were the movers and shakers and we were .so blessed to have them in our lives. I was unable to attend the funeral but have you in my prayers.

Dear Doreen, Mark, Mickey, Heather and family. My sister Jacquie and I extend to you our heartfelt condolences. Bert and the house he built alongside those of his fellow veterans played an important part in the lives of all of us who grow up in the 50s, 60s and 70s on that stretch of Richmond Avenue. Gazing with wonder at all the instruments and devices on his tool bench; looking at the stars through his telescope; listening to the voices of distant lands on his SW radio; endless games of hockey on the rink he built for us; chasing his golf balls in the fields behind 2522; his patient explanations of science and technology and what the astronauts were up to; an always welcoming spot at the Delmage family dinner table; his encouragement and safe oversight of our myriad childhood projects, games and adventures in, around and near that great old house; riding in the backseat of the blue Mercury(?) as he drove us on our way to defend Westridge's hockey honour against Park or East End or Central – these are but a few of my childhood memories of Bert. As an adult, it was a treat to encounter him on the job at Shilo and to recall that it was his veteran's example of service to his country and his support of air cadets that helped put me on my own life's career path. He was a good man who was good to all of us. We will remember him with fondness, respect and gratitude. Sincerely and with best wishes to you all, BGen (Ret'd) Jim (in those days, Jimmy) Selbie, Ottawa

Dear Auntie Doreen, Mark, Mikey, Heather and families,
Our deepest sympathy to all the family on the passing of Uncle Bert.
The last of the seven children ...all together again.
Remembering Uncle Bert giving the "toast to the bride" at our wedding in 1972.
Sorry that we are not able to attend his service, but, as you may know, we are in Texas for the winter. Thinking of you.
Blessings to all ... Sincerely Valerie, Earl and family
