Obituary of David "Ross" Richardson

RICHARDSON: David "Ross" Richardson passed away after a long battle with cancer on May 22, 2014 at the age of 66. He went peacefully, in the comfort of his home in Clear Lake, MB, with his wife Judy by his side. Ross was born on April 11th, 1948 in Selkirk, MB and grew up in Brandon, MB. This is where "by the luck of the draw," he met Judy, the love of his life, when picking her for his high school curling team. After their marriage on July 10th, 1971, Ross' employment with the RCMP took Judy and Ross to Winnipeg, MB. He enjoyed his 33 year career with the RCMP and the many friends he made along the way. While he was passionate about his career, he was a true family man at heart. Ross built their cottage at Clear Lake, MB during his first battle with cancer 17 years ago. This is where he spent happy summer days on the golf course and winter days on the cross country ski trails with friends. While he enjoyed his bonspieling years with friends, in retirement, he fell in love with wintering in Florida. Here, he traded in his curling broom for golf clubs, a tennis racket and bike rides along the beach (often complimented with a cold brew with friends). From a young age, Ross was the life of the party. He was a jokester who loved to dance, entertain, and always brought the best out in people. Even during his toughest times he still put others needs ahead of his own, forever the gentlemen. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife Judy, son Michael, daughter Jennifer (Shawnessey), brother Brian (Kay), and sister Anna (Biagio). A celebration of Ross' life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ross may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Cancer Services," 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
