Obituary of Gerry Edwin Young

YOUNG: Gerald "Gerry" Edwin Young, at the age of 62, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on May 16th, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Wallasey, England and immigrated to Canada with his parents and sister at the young age of eight. He received his education at Alexandra, McLaren and Neelin High School. He then was in the flooring business with his dad for a number of years until he joined the Shur Gro Farm Services organization in 1979, where he worked up until his illness. Gerry was a quiet, gentle, humble, "do anything for anybody kind of guy." He loved reading, "puttering" in his shop, and his morning/evening news. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Young. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Donna of 40 years, daughter Tracy (Bryce) Ridgen, granddaughters Lucy and Kate (born on May 21st, 2014) and son Scott, his mother Edwina Young of Olds, Alberta, sister Edwina (Bob) Ross and niece Megan of Olds, Alberta, brother Edwin (Marie) of Brandon, also niece Morgan Young and nephew Colton Young, mother-in-law Marie Bomek and brother-in-law Grant Bomek of Brandon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 - 4th Street, Brandon, MB on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Kevin Smith as Celebrant.
