Obituary
Obituary of George Brown
On January 15, 2014, God quietly took George Gavin Brown, at the age of 79, to be with him. George was born in Russell, MB on July 4, 1934. He was raised by his parents, John and Nettie in Silverton and later in Birtle, along with his three younger sisters, Marion, Elaine and Joan. In 1960, he married Faye Clegg and they continued to live in Birtle, where they raised their two daughters, Leanne & Jana. Many people will remember George as the kind and caring pharmacist in Birtle, who always had time for the customers and was more than happy to answer their questions. Upon retirement, George and Faye moved to Brandon, where he continued doing relief work as a pharmacist right up to the age of 67. George will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Faye. She will always have fond memories of the many activities they took up over the years, and the time spent doing them together, from golfing, riding motorcycles, canoeing, cross country skiing, and in later years, discovering new games they both enjoyed. His daughters will be forever grateful for being blessed with such a wonderful father, who provided so well for his family and was always there for them. They will especially cherish their memories of all the family vacations spent together at Clear Lake. His Grandchildren will have a special place in their hearts for a Grandpa who always had time for them, whether it was to build them a cardboard house, take them on a wheelbarrow ride, or interview them on his tape recorder. He shared with them over the years his many hobbies such as flying model airplanes, photography, golf and computers. They will never forget those special family gatherings growing up as he captured the memories through his photographs and video recordings. His sons-in-law will always be thankful to George for his guidance and patience out on the golf course, and for eventually passing on to them his passion for the game. They have great memories of the many rounds they all played together over the years. George was a patient, caring, generous and honourable man who will be greatly missed by all of those who loved him. As per his wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit A1-800 Rosser Ave., Brandon, MB, R7A 6N5. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Brandon General Hospital who helped care for George in the end and kept him as comfortable as possible. We would also like to thank Jodee at Brockie Donovan for all her assistance in making the final arrangements.
